Focused on US taxation

Tax clarity.
From the outset.

Your US tax matters need a point of contact who takes care of the work: from the initial assessment through the required returns and documentation to communication with the tax authorities.

I assess your US tax position, establish your filing obligations and prepare the next steps. Income, business interests, deadlines and supporting documents are considered together. This gives you a sound basis for decisions and organized handling of your ongoing obligations.

You retain a personal point of contact for the US side. If your matter also requires a tax adviser in your country of residence or a US attorney, I coordinate the work and the required documentation.

  • Self-employment, business interests and US companies
  • Review of previous returns and outstanding tax years

  • US tax classification of business structures
  • Formation, ownership and ongoing obligations
  • Coordination with advisers in your country of residence
03 / Representation before the IRS

Even when things
get complicated.

I take care of representation before the IRS in inquiries, examinations, administrative appeals, and payment and collection proceedings. This includes reviewing the facts, preparing supporting documents and submissions, tracking deadlines and communicating with the authority.

Entrepreneurs & LLCs

Forming an LLC is quick.
The right questions come first.

I assess your company’s US tax classification and the federal and state returns required. I take care of the documentation and US tax work. The company’s tax treatment in your country of residence is coordinated with your local tax adviser.

A US tax classification does not automatically apply in Germany, Austria or Switzerland.

Focused on US taxation.
Personal
responsibility.

I grew up in a family with American roots. The United States and its outlook on individual initiative and economic opportunity have been part of my life since childhood. This connection shapes my work between German-speaking clients and the US tax system.

My career began in a technical field, as a qualified machining technician and certified industrial foreman in metalworking. Understanding complex processes systematically, documenting carefully and working precisely are part of my professional background. Later, my responsibilities expanded to business management, company interests, financial investments and real estate.

Leading the Palisar group of companies gives me firsthand experience of responsibility for commercial decisions. I am familiar with the German business and tax environment and recognize where a US tax decision connects with questions in the country of residence. These connections inform early coordination with the relevant advisers.

At AKV · US Tax, handling your US tax matters is the focus. I combine personal service in German with professional responsibility for returns, planning and IRS proceedings. My interest in the United States is the personal background; for you, careful work, clear responsibilities and reliable communication are what matter.

The US credential explained

What is an
Enrolled Agent?

An Enrolled Agent is a federally authorized tax practitioner, enrolled by the IRS, who specializes in US tax advice and representation.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is the US federal tax authority. For clients from Germany and Austria, the familiar point of comparison is their Finanzamt; in Switzerland, it is the tax administration. In the US system, an Enrolled Agent provides tax advice, prepares returns and represents clients before the IRS. Each state has its own tax authorities for state taxes.

EA enrollment is the highest credential awarded by the IRS itself. The standard qualification route uses the IRS Special Enrollment Examination. Enrollment is granted directly by the IRS and carries professional conduct and continuing education requirements.

Enrolled Agents have the same unlimited representation rights before the IRS as attorneys and CPAs, across all types of taxpayers, tax matters and IRS offices. Active enrollment and the appropriate authorization are required.

Professional duties & responsibility
Enrolled Agents are subject to Treasury Circular 230 professional rules, with due diligence and continuing education obligations. For a federal tax return prepared for a fee, the responsible preparer signs as the paid preparer and provides their PTIN. The preparer assumes their own professional responsibility for preparation. For you, this means regulated tax services with clear accountability.

What an Enrolled Agent can do for you

  1. Tax advice & returns

Assess federal and state tax matters, plan ahead and prepare US tax returns for individuals and businesses.

  2. Examinations & appeals

Represent clients in IRS inquiries and audits, explain documents and tax positions, and assist with administrative appeals.

  3. Payment & collection proceedings

Represent clients in payment matters, tax arrears and collection proceedings, including installment agreement requests and appropriate offers in compromise.

Representation before the IRS

EA enrollment enables comprehensive representation before the IRS, from returns and examinations through administrative appeals. It is not limited to returns prepared by the Enrolled Agent. For court proceedings, an appropriately admitted US attorney is brought in.

US taxes in an international context

Your US taxes.
Clearly managed.

A personal point of contact for your US taxes. I handle the tax work and coordinate the process, including when your matter requires other specialists.

Federal tax & state tax
I handle federal taxes and the state taxes relevant to your circumstances: determining filing obligations, reviewing documents, and preparing and filing returns. The work is coordinated across both levels. Representation before a state tax authority takes account of that authority’s procedures and authorization requirements.

Working with your tax adviser in your country of residence
Where there are tax consequences in Germany, Austria, Switzerland or another country of residence, I work with your local tax adviser. I handle the US side; your locally authorized adviser handles the local assessment and returns. Documents, deadlines and tax classifications are coordinated, particularly for income from both countries or the treatment of an LLC.

When a US attorney joins the process
As an Enrolled Agent, I handle representation in IRS proceedings. If legal services or court proceedings become necessary, a US attorney admitted for the matter is brought in. The attorney handles the legal work; I remain responsible for the tax analysis and coordination. You do not have to coordinate the specialists yourself.

Good to know

Your questions.
Clear answers.

When do I also need a tax adviser in my country of residence?

When your circumstances also create tax obligations there, for example through US income, business interests or an LLC. I handle your US tax matters; an adviser authorized in your country of residence handles the local assessment and returns. We establish whether coordination is needed, and for which tasks, based on your circumstances.

Is IRS representation limited to tax returns?

No. Enrolled Agents with active enrollment have unlimited representation rights before the IRS. This includes examinations, administrative appeals and collection proceedings, within the scope of the authorization. Court representation has separate admission requirements.

Is an LLC tax-free for entrepreneurs resident in Germany?

There is no blanket answer. US classification, activities, ownership structure and tax residence must be assessed. The German tax position requires an independent assessment by an authorized adviser. Forming a company does not replace a cross-border review.

What about families with different citizenships?

US tax questions may arise from citizenship, residence or income. Whether a joint return is possible or appropriate, and which elections or obligations apply, must be assessed individually. Marriage does not automatically confer citizenship.

Is the US tax firm part of Palisar?

AKV · US Tax is initially operated as a distinct brand by Palisar Consulting GmbH. Aleksander Karl Vorwerk leads the professional focus and personal service. Future Enrolled Agent enrollment is personal and is not granted to the company. Any later change to the firm’s legal structure will be announced separately.

Professional status

The German wording “angehender US-Steuerberater (EA)” describes the intended professional role as an Enrolled Agent (EA). IRS enrollment has not yet been granted. It does not claim appointment as a tax adviser in Germany or Austria or a corresponding Swiss professional qualification.

Enrolled Agent status is granted to an individual, rather than the company operating this website. Information about the credential and US professional rules is available from the Internal Revenue Service and in Treasury Circular 230.
